How to cut your nails well?

Taking care of your nails also means knowing how to cut them well. Which utensil to choose? How to facilitate cutting? We tell you everything!

TIP N°1: SOFTEN THE NAILS TO MAKE IT EASIER TO CUT

To make the task simpler, it is better to cut your nails when they are soft: less fragile, there is less risk that they break or split. They are soaked for a few minutes in warm soapy water. Otherwise, you can also cut them after taking a bath or shower. This little trick is especially useful for toenails that are much thicker than those of the hands.

TIP N°2: CHOOSE THE RIGHT ACCESSORY TO CUT YOUR NAILS

To ban absolutely: school, sewing or kitchen scissors, which are not at all suitable. For hand nails, the nail clipper is also dropped: as its blade is straight, it may bend and damage the nail. Its use is more appropriate on toenails that are thicker and less fragile.

Using a pair of small scissors is still one of the best ways to properly cut your nails without injuring yourself. Indeed, the curvature of its blades, slightly rounded, perfectly matches that of the nail and allows to cut with more precision. The risk of weakening the nail plate is then more minimal. A little advice all the same: nail clippers or scissors, we think about disinfecting the utensil before and after, with a little alcohol or disinfectant.

Finally, rather than cutting your nails, you can just file them. The result is the same but this technique is less aggressive for the nails, especially those of the hands. And ideally, we always file in the same direction.

TIP N°3: CUT YOUR NAILS TO THE RIGHT SIZE

Be careful not to cut your nails too short, there is nothing worse to cause an ingrown toenail problem. And without it getting there, nails that are too short on the feet are usually quite painful in shoes. To do well, on the hands, the nail is allowed to protrude at least 1 millimeter at the end so that it protects the tip of the finger. On the toes, we cut in a straight line, so as to form a right angle. Then round slightly with a nail file (rather cardboard, less abrasive than metal file).

Then all that remains is to pass a little polisher to make them smooth and shiny.

We recommend that you use the adequate manicure and pedicure set to take care of your nails before applying any thing on your nails.
