- Consider the nail in two parts: the right and the left.

- Start at one of the outer corners and file towards the center. Do not file back and forth across the entire tip of the nail as this may damage the nail.
- When you have achieved the desired length and shape on one side, file from the opposite corner towards the center.
- Go slowly. If you file too fast, you will remove too much of the nail too quickly, making it difficult to achieve the desired shape.
